UNUSUAL TRAINING EQUIPMENT

Last year after completing 2 half-marathons, I decided that I wanted to challenge myself even more…do something I’d never done before. But, I didn’t really have the time to train for a full marathon, plus I really wanted to add more weight training in to my workout regimen. Enter the crazy idea to do a Warrior Dash!

Thankfully, my sister and business partner was all in for ‘the Dash.’ She’s never done one either, so we were super excited to try something new together. My workout plan began to consist of some running, and a lot of functional weight training (like the soon to be released Bright Fitness ReBootcamp program!). But this past month, after seeing the course, I knew I needed to become a little more rugged…so I hit the swing set! Climbing, ropes, a ‘pull-up’ bar – it had it all! And it is tough. A typical workout might consist of a 2 mile run, followed by pull-ups, ladder and rope climbs, push-ups, and abs, then sprints across the yard and back to the swing set.

The race is for fun, and our goal is to complete every obstacle they throw at us while encouraging and motivating each other to get it done! This May, we will be getting dirty, using every muscle we have, and loving every minute of it!
